What is under the fabric.

Four parts you cannot see in a photograph, and the ones that decide how long a piece lasts. We draw every piece and build it ourselves, so each of them is ours to answer for.

The four parts

Each piece's own page, under “How it is made”, gives what we have recorded for its frame, joinery, foam and springs.

Choose a piece

Frame
What everything else is fixed to. It decides whether a piece stays square after years of being sat on.
Joinery
Where the parts of the frame meet. A joint is where a frame loosens first, so it is worth asking about.
Foam
What the cushions are filled with. It decides how a seat feels on the first day and years later.
Springs
What the seat rests on under the foam, carrying the weight the cushion passes down.
