A crescent: the back is one continuous curve that sweeps down at both ends to become the arms, so there is no joint anywhere along it and nothing reads as having been attached afterwards. The seat is a single cushion cut to the same arc, undivided and untufted, with a piped welt tracing its front edge and a second following the crest of the back. The base is upholstered to the floor rather than lifted on legs, so the piece sits heavy and unbroken, and its front curves inward at the centre.
